Lower Saucon Township Police Friday announced charges against a 16-year-old boy from Allentown who they say was in possession of marijuana and a BB gun that “was almost identical to a regular handgun” while playing dice with several others at the dead end of Old Philadelphia Pike on the afternoon of Sept. 18.

Police said officers were called there at 5:41 p.m. for a report of someone “possibly having a gun” and found the boy along with Raul Rodriguez, 21, of the 1400 block of W. Pennsylvania Avenue, Allentown, near a van.

They said when officers arrived the boy threw the gun into the woods and a bag that allegedly contained marijuana into some weeds. Both were subsequently recovered, they added.

Rodriguez was allegedly found to be in possession of a grinder and has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, police said.

The 16-year-old is charged with possession of marijuana and tampering with evidence and has been referred to Northampton County Juvenile Court, police said.
