Many kids head to the annual Saucon Valley Spirit Parade thinking about getting something–candy! But you can also help teach them a valuable lesson in giving this year thanks to Mountainview Moravian Church, which will be collecting gently-used children’s clothing along the parade route.
The effort is in keeping with this year’s parade’s theme: “Reduce, Repurpose, Recyle.”
Simply gather the clothing you’d like to donate ahead of time, place it in small bags and bring it to the parade with you.
When Mountainview volunteers pass by, “you (will) toss the bag of clothing and church members will toss candy back,” a news release from the Hellertown church said. “This act of kindness will certainly help others in need.”
The 2016 Saucon Valley Spirit Parade will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 on Walnut Street, Main Street, Water Street, Rentzheimer Drive, Durham Street and Constitution Avenue.
Mountainview Moravian Church is located at 331 Constitution Ave., Hellertown, and is known for its Used Clothing Ministry, which distributes large amounts of gently-used men’s, women’s and children’s clothing to those in need twice a year.
