Edward S. Myirski Sr., 86, of Bethlehem, died Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at his residence. He was the husband of Marie F. (Fluck) Myirski. He was born in Bethlehem on Sept. 25, 1930 to the late Andrew and Maria (Opet) Majirsky. Edward served our country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He served on the U.S.S. Ernest G. Small. He was wounded in action and was awarded four medals: the Purple Heart, United Nations Ribbon, Korean Service Medal and the Navy Occupation Medal. He worked at Spirax-Sarco for 42 years until retiring in 1995, and served on the grievance committee at Union Local #2109. He was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Hellertown, Washington Republican Club, St. Bernard’s, Fountain Hill American Legion Post 406 and the Portuguese American Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and in his younger days loved skiing, water skiing and ice skating.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving wife of 57 years; children: Edward S. (Constance M.) of Schnecksville, Theresa M. (Karl M.) Zellner of Ridgecrest, Calif., Janice J. (Ramiro F.) Pereira of Bethlehem, Lynda L. (David J.) Hassick of Whitehall, siblings: Stephen M. of Bath, Joseph of Bath, Agnes McGrann of Telford; grandchildren: Bradley, Edward III, Emily, Daniel, Phillip, Stephanie, Matthew; great-grandaughter: Alannah. He was predeceased by siblings: Andrew M., Mary, Anne Shimko and Margaret Lakits.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Ss. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Edward H.
