A Lower Saucon Township man who is on probation was arrested on a detainer issued by county authorities and is now facing a new charge after township police say he was found by his mother “passed out” in their basement with a glass smoking device and “multiple empty glassine packets” near him Friday morning.

Glassine is a type of glossy, smooth paper that–among other things–can be used to transport either pharmaceutical or illicit drugs.
In a news release issued Friday, police said Nicholas William Binczak, 22, of the 1900 block of Pine Court, in the Society Hill development, was arrested after his mother turned the device–which allegedly contained burnt residue–and packets over to them.
“Officers were able to identify the glass smoking device as a drug item typically used to smoke the drugs crack cocaine and methamphetamine,” police said.
Binczak was taken to Northampton County Prison after being arrested on the probation detainer and will be charged with possession of drug paraphernalia in District Court 03-2-04, police said.
