A postal truck driver who post office officials say is no longer employed by the U.S. Postal Service is accused of causing a hit-and-run accident in the 2300 block of Wassergass Road April 9, according to Lower Saucon Township Police.

In a news release issued Wednesday, police said that shortly before 3 p.m., Lisa Yelito, 44, of the 400 block of State Street, East Greenville, swerved into the opposing lane and struck an oncoming pickup truck’s side view mirror, “breaking both mirrors.”

Police said Yelito then allegedly continued to drive toward Hellertown, and the pickup driver–a 58 year-old Riegelsville woman–reported the accident to police.

“Yelito stated there was nowhere to pull over and she didn’t know what the procedure was after an accident,” police said.

Yelito is charged with leaving the scene of an accident.

Hellertown Postmaster Theresa Nebbia said Yelito was an East Greenville postal employee who that Sunday was temporarily assigned to the Easton post office to deliver Amazon packages in that part of Lower Saucon Township.
