John Kost, 89, of Hellertown, died Saturday, April 22, 2017 in Florida. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth J. (Yeager) Kost, who died April 1, 2012. He was born in Palmerton on Aug. 18, 1927 to the late Michael and Anastasia (Script) Kost. John worked as a clerk at the Bethlehem Steel Co. in the Manifesting Department for 30 years until retiring in 1983. He served his country faithfully during the Korean War in the U.S. Army. John was a member of St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Bethlehem, the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397 in Hellertown, F. & A.M. Lodge #283 in Bethlehem and the F. & A.M. Northside Lodge #283 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
SURVIVORS
For many years, John had been lovingly cared for by Bill and Lynette Jacobs as well as extended family and friends. He touched and influenced many throughout his life, all of whom will miss him. He was predeceased by five brothers and five sisters.
SERVICE
Family and friends are invited to a calling period from 8:15 to 9 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a Masonic service at 9 a.m. A Divine Liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Bethlehem.
