Cora A. (Moyer) Kerner Albarelli, 92, Formerly of Elm Road (Obituary Brought to You by Heintzelman Funeral Home)

Cora A. (Moyer) Kerner Albarelli, 92, formerly of Elm Road, Hellertown, died Friday, April 28, 2017 at Saucon Valley Manor, Hellertown. She was the wife of the late Carl Albarelli (who died May 14, 2010) and the late John E. Kerner (who died Feb. 18, 1996). She was born in Lower Saucon Township on Dec. 4, 1924 to the late John D. Moyer and Mamie Evelyn (Klotz) Mease. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital for many years until retiring, and was a Nursing Supervisor and Nursing Instructor at the hospital’s School of Nursing. Cora earned a Master’s degree in education from Lehigh University, Bethlehem, and was a graduate of Cedar Crest College in 1973. She was honored for her volunteer work in 1981. She was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus RC Church, Hellertown. Cora was the Founder/Charter Member of the Hellertown Area Library, where she was the inaugural President of the library board; Past President of the Woman’s Club, Hellertown; former member of the Hellertown Lions Club; recipient of the Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce’s Outstanding Leadership Award; volunteered for the American Diabetes Association; the Northampton County Area Association for the Blind; the Saucon Valley Community Center; the Salvation Army; and the Hellertown Zoning Hearing Board. Cora volunteered in the soup kitchen of the Bethlehem Southside and New Bethany Ministries and for the blood pressure clinic of the American Heart Association and the Red Cross.

Loving daughters: Jane M. Kerner wife of Paul Mendoza of Stone Mountain, Ga., Mary A. Kerner, SHCJ, of Washington, D.C., Patricia A. Kerner of Decatur, Ga., Judith A. wife of Keith W. Riegel of Lower Saucon Township; granddaughters: Amanda and Victoria. She was predeceased by brothers: Owen Moyer, John DeBor, Ernest Mease.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017 and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The Tuesday calling hour will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at her church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. Interment will conclude services at the Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
