Hellertown Rocks: New Project Brings Art, Inspiration to Community

Being a spiritual life coach, I am always looking for ways to uplift others. During my cancer journey a friend of mine told me about an inspirational thing that her town does by painting rocks and leaving them for people to find. She added me to the group so I could follow along and be inspired. Instantly, I wanted to be a part of this by doing the same thing here in Hellertown. Although I started painting rocks, there were days when I just didn’t feel good enough to really get into it. Because I always ask for signs, I knew one would come when I was supposed to start this new journey. That day came recently when another friend was posting about Easton Rocks. I felt that internal inspired action and jumped on it right away. The Hellertown Rocks Facebook page was created and the painting started. Luckily for me, my friend Wendi has tons of rocks that used to be around her pool which no longer exists. Each time she comes to visit she brings a bag of rocks. My daughter and her friends have joined in and I even have a date with a few friends to do breakfast and rock painting at my home in July. I believe this is a great thing for all ages to get involved with. All you need is some rocks, paint brushes, acrylic paint or spray paint and some Mod Podge as a sealant. All paint supplies can be purchased at local craft stores. I highly recommend painting multiple rocks at a time to ensure drying time.

Here’s what you do…

Paint your rocks and put them out around town. Of course you should be respectful and ask business owners if they would allow you to put a rock inside their business or outside on their property. Most businesses I have asked have said ‘yes.’ You can take a picture of the rock and give a clue if you’d like and post it in the Hellertown Rocks Facebook page. When anyone finds a rock, they may either leave it there or take it with them. You may hold onto it for awhile and then place it somewhere else. If you are on Facebook, please take a picture of the rock and state where you found it before relocating it.

There have been many times when I am guided to see something that snaps me out of a funk, makes me giggle or enlightens my spirit. And I think to myself, “That’s exactly what I needed today.” My hope in doing this is to continue to uplift Hellertown and bring people a little something positive they can take with them and share with others.
