Eleven students from Saucon Valley High School were presented as candidates for the Junior Councilperson Program at the Sept. 6, 2017 Lower Saucon Township Council meeting.
This is the largest group of representatives since the inception of the program, the township said in a news release.
“The Junior Councilperson Program provides an opportunity for high school
students to participate in local government and serve as a link between the
municipal officials and the students’ peers at the high school,” it said.
Council designated the students for the following assignments:
- Ferris Abu-Ghosh (junior) and Samuel Striz (senior) were appointed as the representatives to Township Council.
- Brynn Bambu (senior), Katie French (junior) and Benjamin Szydlow (senior) were appointed as representatives to the Township Environmental Advisory Council.
- Sydney Oskin (junior), Nicholas Snead (sophomore) and Thomas Spirk (sophomore) were appointed as representatives to the Township Parks & Recreation Board.
- Ethan Kennedy (sophomore), Zack Mikuta (sophomore) and Matthew Wagner (junior) were appointed as representatives to the Township Planning Commission.
Township officials said they appreciate the level of interest the students have shown in local government and look forward to their participation and contributions
during the coming year.
