Little Panther Wrestling Wrap-Up (Brought to You By Saucon Valley Handyman)

Est. Read Time: 3 mins

Saucon Valley’s Mack Santoro pinned his Northampton opponent in 1:49.

It was another great weekend for Saucon Valley wrestling. Chad Shirk and his Panthers conquered central Pennsylvania at the Juniata Duals on Saturday, followed by the Little Panthers hitting the trifecta on Sunday at Whitehall by sweeping their hosts, Lehigh Township and a tough Northampton squad.

The Saucon Valley Little Panther varsity wrestlers have rung-up a 13-1 record in the regular season of the Valley Elementary Wrestling League (VEWL) and are a perfect 5-0 in the North Central Division.

With another great day on the mat, Saucon Valley now looks ahead to the VEWL post-season tournament where they will try to avenge a two-point loss they received from Forks Township. It was a two-point loss in which the Panthers gave up two forfeits to the Falcons. Could Saucon end up facing Forks Township again in the VEWL championship? It certainly looks that way!

It looks like Nick Werkheiser (Varsity 54 lbs.) may be taking a break, but he is acquiring near-fall points for his Panther teammates.

“It was another great day of good matches”, head coach of the Little Panthers Ben Chunko said. “We knew that we didn’t match up the best against Northampton, but we had key wins from Carter (Chunko), Cole (Hubert), Aiden (Grogg) and a huge pin from Jared (Rohn) to seal it.”

“Whitehall was another solid team and the high-notes for us there included Luke Chunko never quitting and having a come-from-behind pin in the 3rd period. I was also pleased with Braden Rohn; he wrestled smart and beat a good kid,” Coach Chunko said.
