Est. Read Time: 2 mins

Thursday was an exciting day for the cast and crew of “Curtains,” Saucon Valley High School’s spring musical, which was performed in mid-March.

Along with high school theater departments from around the Lehigh Valley, the Saucon students’ eyes were on Easton at noon for the announcement of this year’s Freddy Award nominations live from the State Theatre.

The Freddy Awards recognize and reward exceptional accomplishments in the production and performance of musical theater in high schools in Lehigh and Northampton counties in Pennsylvania, and in Warren County in New Jersey. After all was said and done Saucon Valley received four Freddy nominations, including one for “Outstanding Overall Production by a Smaller School.”

The other Freddy nominations Saucon Valley received for “Curtains” are for:

Abigail Altemose performs as Bambi Bernet in “Curtains” at Saucon Valley High School in March. Altemose is nominated for a 2019 Freddy Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Ensemble Member.

The 2019 Freddy Awards Ceremony will be held Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m. at the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Easton. The ceremony will be broadcast live on WFMZ-TV Channel 69 and live-streamed on WFMZ.com.

A dress rehearsal and preview party for the Freddy Awards will be held May 22 from 4:30 to 10:30 p.m. in the Easton Hospital Gallery and Annex, with proceeds from the event to benefit the Freddy Awards program.

Saucon Source congratulates all of the Freddy Award nominees on their accomplishment.

“Curtains,” described as a musical whodunit, was performed by a large ensemble cast at Saucon Valley High School from March 14 to March 17. The production is now nominated for four 2019 Freddy awards.
