Est. Read Time: 3 mins

Well-known Lehigh Valley dermatologist Stephen Senft, MD, a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, has joined Andrew Krakowski, MD, the region’s only pediatric dermatologist; Alan Westheim, MD; and the rest of the expert staff at St. Luke’s Dermatology.

Dr. Stephen Senft has joined St. Luke’s Dermatology.

“After 34 years of treating patients in private practice, I joined St. Luke’s to become part of its active teaching program which trains more physicians in the wonderful field of dermatology,” said Dr. Senft. “For me, it means joining a gratifying academic environment among a wide array of gifted clinical specialists. For my patients, it means continuity of care, because our dermatology program will provide care to my patients and future patients long after my clinical practice days are over.”

Dr. Senft earned his medical degree at Hershey Medical Center.

After his dermatology residency training at Brown University, he put down roots in Bethlehem, where he practiced for many years. He is a fellow of the American Society for Mohs Surgery, a group of physicians dedicated to providing important professional and educational support for skin cancer training. In addition to his interest in skin cancer, he also specializes in treatment of psoriasis, dermatological manifestations of systemic disease and nail disorders.

“I believe it’s my responsibility as a physician to welcome patients regardless of their socioeconomic background, ethnicity or any other factor and make them feel comfortable in our office,” said Dr. Senft. “It’s only then that a productive outpatient physician-patient relationship can be established.”

Dr. Senft always stresses to his patients his main message of maintaining healthy skin through sun avoidance, protection and proper screening.

When he’s not working, Dr. Senft enjoys spending time with his grandkids in Pennsylvania, New York and Maine. He also loves to spend time at the beach, but always with good sun protection.

Andrew Krakowski, MD, a board-certified dermatologist and pediatric dermatologist also serves as chief of dermatology and program director for the residency in dermatology.

“I am thrilled to welcome Dr. Senft to St. Luke’s Dermatology and to St. Luke’s University Health Network,” said Dr. Krakowski. “Stephen’s many years of experience, his dedication to the field of dermatology, his skills and his interest in the education of our up and coming physicians will be a great asset to St. Luke’s.”

“The specialty of dermatology is becoming more and more needed as the population ages as does the interest in surgical and cosmetic procedures,” said Dr. Krakowski. “Also, with more awareness about skin cancer and helping patients stay vigilant about early warning signs, there is a greater need for practitioners within the Network.”

St. Luke’s Dermatology treats pediatric, adolescent and adult patients with a variety of skin conditions, including skin cancer.
