St. Luke’s University Health Network’s new Upper Bucks Campus, located at 3000 St. Luke’s Drive, Quakertown, is built on a 38-acre parcel of land at the corner of Rt. 663 and Portzer Road in Milford Township.
Bucks County’s newest hospital, St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus in Milford Township, will officially open its doors at 7 a.m. Saturday. Construction of the $100 million campus that features a family-friendly, 80-bed hospital and a state-of-the-art emergency room, began in May 2018.
At the opening of the new St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus, the emergency room at the nearby St. Luke’s Quakertown Campus will close. The newly completed ER has 16 bays including two trauma bays, a specialty pediatric and a bariatric room. In addition to the emergency room, medical/surgical beds, intensive care beds and surgical services will transfer from St. Luke’s Quakertown Campus to the new Upper Bucks Campus.

More than 200 jobs were created through the construction of the three-story, 131,000-square-foot hospital. Fifty new staff have been hired for the new hospital and approximately 300 full- and part-time employees from St. Luke’s Quakertown Campus will transition to the Upper Bucks Campus. Over the last few months employees have undergone training and orientation to learn the brand-new equipment and the ins-and-outs of the building.
St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus utilized 100 percent American steel and is the newest hospital construction project in Bucks County since 1973. The Upper Bucks Campus, located at 3000 St. Luke’s Drive, Quakertown, is on a 38-acre parcel of land on the corner of Route 663 and Portzer Road in Milford Township. The new building is a five-minute drive from downtown Quakertown to the east and three miles from the Pennsylvania Turnpike to the west. It is easily accessible by major road systems in the area, including Rt. 309, Rt. 313 and I-476.
Soon after the Upper Bucks Campus opens, renovations will begin at the St. Luke’s Quakertown Campus, located at 1021 Park Ave., Quakertown, to expand the inpatient Behavioral Health Unit there. Behavioral health services assist with the diagnosis and treatment of a variety of mental and behavioral health concerns. Along with behavioral health, many St. Luke’s services will continue to serve area residents at St. Luke’s Quakertown Campus. These include the physician offices located in the Medical Office Building, Lab Services, Radiology, Mammography, Infusion, Wound Care, Pulmonary Function Testing and Cardiac Pulmonary Rehabilitation, EEG/EMG, Outpatient Nutrition Services, DaVita Dialysis and the Sleep Center.
The opening of the St. Luke’s Upper Bucks Campus comes less than a month after the November opening of the new Geisinger St. Luke’s Hospital, located roughly an hour’s drive away in Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County. That hospital is co-owned by Danville-based Geisinger and Bethlehem-based St. Luke’s University Health Network. St. Luke’s is managing the hospital, and both organizations are contributing medical expertise and specialists for patient care.
