Pennsylvania State Police say tempers flared when another motorist honked his horn at him in Riegelsville borough Saturday at approximately 2 p.m.

In a news release, state police at Dublin said Thursday that a 59-year-old man from Phillipsburg, N.J., was the initial aggressor in the incident, which began because the other driver–a 36-year-old Phillipsburg man–thought he was “blocking the road.”

Police said the older man followed the other driver in his car to the canal bridge on Durham Street near Maplewood Road, where they both exited their vehicles and got into a verbal argument.

The verbal argument escalated into a physical confrontation when the younger man pushed the man who had followed him into some bushes, police said.

According to the news release–which did not include names–it was the younger man who had been followed who was subsequently charged with harassment and disorderly conduct.
