Lehigh Carbon Community College has received the designation of Military Friendly School from VIQTORY, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business, for its support of veterans, active military and their families. According to a news release, the designation is based on responses from a proprietary survey and public data sources that assess the college’s efforts to provide sustainable, meaningful benefits to the military community.

“The MFS designation identifies a school that provides service members and their families with information about post-military education and career opportunities, including on-campus veterans programs, credit for service, military spouse programs and more,” it said. “Institutions are rated on student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer) and loan default rates for all students and specifically for student veterans.”

LCCC has also earned a Gold designation in the small community college category for its work assisting veterans, active duty members of the military and their families.

“LCCC continues to provide resources and support services to dozens of active military and veteran students, including their spouses and dependents, to meet their specific needs while attending college,” the release said. “Resources include veterans’ lounges at both the Schnecksville and Tamaqua campuses, preferred scheduling, scholarship opportunities and a dedicated Veterans Support Team to provide the resources needed to successfully transition to college.”

At LCCC there are also a Veterans Club which provides students with support and the opportunity to connect with fellow veteran and military students; an LCCC Veteran Advisory Board, which monitors veteran-related issues; and a chapter of SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society that recognizes academic achievements.
