Springfield Township Police have charged a resident with four counts of writing bad checks and three counts of theft by deception for allegedly knowingly passing checks from an account that was closed to pay for goods received or services rendered, and police said additional charges in her case are possible.

In a post published on the department’s Crimewatch site Friday, police said 55-year-old Maureen Leigh Griffith of Hickory Lane, Coopersburg, was arrested April 30.
According to a docket filed in Bucks County District Court 07-3-03, the charges Griffith is facing are all first degree misdemeanors.
The docket indicated that a preliminary hearing before Judge Gary Gambardella is scheduled for Monday, May 13 at 10:30 a.m.
No attorney was listed for Griffith, who police said may have written additional bad checks.
“The Springfield Township Police Department has information to suggest there are more checks out there that were written by Griffith that have not been able to be successfully deposited,” Friday’s post said. “If you believe you may be a victim in this case, please contact the Springfield Township Police Department immediately at 215-328-8523.”
