Northampton Community College (NCC) has announced that it is offering a new community education course in partnership with the Lehigh Valley Zoo: Introduction to Zoo & Wildlife Enrichment.

The course will be held Wednesday, June 5 and Wednesday, June 12 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Penn Hall on NCC’s Bethlehem campus. Each class will be followed by a lab from 12 to 1 p.m. at the zoo in Schnecksville.

According to a course description provided by NCC, the course will cover “environmental, social and behavioral enrichment in zoo and wildlife centers and why it is necessary for captive species’ health and well-being.”

Topics will include animal welfare, conservation and public education.
