Police shared on their Crimewatch site that officers received a standing ovation from students as they entered the school in Center Valley Wednesday; a tribute to their heroism which was followed by the playing of the National Anthem.

Officers then had an opportunity to talk with the children and answer questions.

There were “lots of fist bumps, hand shaking and at least one student who even asked an officer for a hug!” the post said. “(It was a) very cool and rewarding experience for all of us.”

Officers who were present for the event also received “DONUT” themed thank you cards and bag lunches.

“We had a wonderful time meeting with all of you and hope you have a great end to the school year and are looking forward to your summer break!” police said.
