But for patrons hoping to check their email or tag friends on Facebook over a leisurely latte, there may be a bit less to celebrate.
A store manager Friday night confirmed that the Starbucks won’t have wireless internet–or wifi–available.
Free wifi is a draw for many coffee shops, because it allows more customers to work or socialize online. But it can also have the unintended side effect of encouraging customers to linger longer.
Space around the new Starbucks–which has been built in the store’s northeast corner, where its flower shop was located–will be at a premium, an associate said.
The Giant store, which is located in the Creekside Marketplace shopping center at 1880 Leithsville Road, Hellertown, opened in 2002.
In conjunction with the opening of the Starbucks, some other renovations have been made inside the store, which is open 24 hours.
