Lower Saucon Township Manager Jack Cahalan has announced that he will retire at the end of 2015.

Cahalan has been township manager for 13 years, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the township.

Councilman David Willard called Cahalan’s decision to announce his retirement a year in advance “very professional,” and asked him to consider putting together a “succession plan” in the upcoming months, to help with the transition.

Cahalan agreed to do that.

Council vice president called Cahalan’s decision to step down “the end of an era.”

During his tenure at Lower Saucon Township, Cahalan has played a leading role in the development of many locally significant projects, such as the Saucon Rail Trail and Polk Valley Park.
