Saucon Source Athlete of the Week: Evan Culver (Brought to You by C. Fluck Training)

Est. Read Time: 2 mins

Editor’s Note: Evan Culver was also the Saucon Source Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 27, 2015. Previous weeks’ results do not affect the likelihood of being a future pick, according to Chris Fluck, who chooses and writes each week’s Athlete of the Week. “If they perform the best then they perform the best,” he said Wednesday. “In my opinion, Evan was the top performer from last week.”

Senior Running Back Evan Culver: Evan ran his way into the record books Friday against a very good Northwestern Lehigh football team.

Saucon Valley’s Evan Culver (#3) stretching for extra yardage against the Northwestern Lehigh Tigers Friday.

The Panthers were able to avenge their lone league loss from a year ago behind his 285 yards and four touchdowns! The fourth and final touchdown broke a Saucon Valley school record for touchdowns in a career (44) previously held by 2013 Express-Times Player of the Year and current Muhlenberg running back Nick Savant.

Notable Achievements

Freshman Cross Country Runner Kiele Riefenstahl: Kiele won the meet at Southern Lehigh and in the process, broke the course record previously held by Saucon Valley’s own Elizabeth Chikotas. Then last Friday, she competed in the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh University. The conditions for this race were awful! There were sections of the course where the runners ran through four inches of mud and water over extended stretches. Kiele toughed it out and finished in second place. As Coach Ed Kolosky told me simply, “She is the REAL DEAL Chris!”

Sophomore Girls Soccer Player Madison Guerrieri: In an 8-0 victory over Palmerton, Maddie scored three goals and added an assist. She followed that game up with two goals and one assist in a 6-0 victory over Quakertown.

Men’s Soccer Players Sean Freed and Quinn Tunnell: Sean and Quinn each scored two goals in the Panthers’ 7-2 victory over Palmerton last Wednesday.
