Homecoming was celebrated at Saucon Valley’s Community Pep Rally Thursday. The event included the crowning of this year’s Homecoming King, recognition of senior fall athletes and band members and lots of school spirit.
It won’t be long before the familiar sight of yellow school buses returns to area roads, and drivers should be aware of that, given the number of children who will be riding in them.
Each time Justin Kanyuk plants, pushes off or pivots his left foot and leg during a football game for the University of North Carolina next year, he’ll be relying on the strength and stability of his kneecap, which was rebuilt expertly by St. Luke’s orthopedic surgeon Scott Doroshow, DO.
Friday night was full of spirited homecoming pomp and pageantry for the Saucon Valley community. Avia Weber and Brennen Van Helmondt were crowned Panther royalty. And, there was a rivalry football game that was played against the Southern Lehigh Spartans.
In addition to the community pep rally and bonfire held at Montford E. Illick Stadium Thursday night, Saucon Valley High School’s new Homecoming King was crowned. Check out our photos of all the festivities!

Twelve extraordinary Saucon Valley High School seniors have been named to the school’s Fall Homecoming Court: Ava Albano, Ava Bracalente, Avia Weber, Brennen Van Helmondt, Catherine Leidich, Dante Mahaffey, Ethan Grim, Hailey Robertson, James Townsend, Sage Spohn, Sean Cherry and Ty Csencsits.
Following the confirmation of two additional coronavirus cases at Saucon Valley High School and the closure of the school for 14 days based on Pennsylvania Department of Education guidelines, the district’s athletic department announced Monday that all team-related athletic activities have been canceled through Nov. 15.
Gov. Tom Wolf announced new guidelines for occupancy limits for both indoor and outdoor events Tuesday. Under the new guidelines, venues such as sports stadiums will be able to accommodate more guests, but they will still be required to enforce maximum seating capacities that are far less than what was normal in the pre-pandemic era.
