Lower Saucon Township District Judge David W. Tidd swears in (from left) councilwomen Priscilla deLeon, Donna Louder and Sandra Yerger on Monday, Jan. 4, 2016.

Two new Lower Saucon Township Council members were sworn in Monday night, along with an incumbent who was re-elected to her long-held seat in November.

Donna Louder and Sandra Yerger–a former township councilwoman–were sworn in by Judge David W. Tidd, along with Priscilla deLeon, who has been a council member since 1988.

At the reorganization meeting that followed, Ron Horiszny was unanimously re-elected council president and Yerger was unanimously elected vice president.

The meeting was also noteworthy for being the first attended by councilman and former council president Glenn Kern in nearly a year.

Kern, who has battled health issues and suffers from hearing loss, was assisted with communication during the meeting by a layperson who acted as a liaison.

“My body’s not cooperating too well, but thank god my mind’s still there,” he said. “It’s real nice to be back.”

He also congratulated Louder and welcomed back deLeon and Yerger.
