Snow Possible Sunday Night, But Little Accumulation Expected

Est. Read Time: < 1 min

The National Weather Service says snow is possible Sunday night and early Monday, although little if any accumulation is expected in the Lehigh Valley before the precipitation turns to rain.

The greatest chance for accumulating snow is in the higher elevations of the Poconos and northwestern New Jersey, a NWS hazardous weather outlook indicated.

Sunday night’s low in Hellertown is forecast to be 31 degrees, which is a few degrees below normal according to local climatological records. Monday’s high is expected to be in the low 50s, which is also slightly below normal for early April.

Much colder air is expected to invade the area by Tuesday, with a low of 22 degrees forecast for Tuesday night. The cold snap could damage many plants and trees that are flowering early after an unseasonably warm March.
