After a wintertime closure to help protect the turf at Lower Saucon Township’s Polk Valley Dog Park, the popular 1-acre doggie play area reopened Friday, which was when township officials issued a reminder to all residents about the rules for the facility.
The rules include the following:
- All dogs using the park must be spayed or neutered
- Each visitor may bring up to 2 dogs
- Dogs under 4 months of age are not allowed in the park
- Food and treats are not permitted in the park
- Aggressive dogs are prohibited
- Female dogs in heat are prohibited
- All dogs must be leashed when entering and leaving the park
- All dog feces must be picked up and properly disposed of (disposable baggies known as “Mutt Mitts” and a waste receptacle are available on site)
- All dogs must be legally licensed and vaccinated before being brought to the park
- All dogs must wear a visible dog license and identification
- The gates to the park should be kept closed at all times
- Owners must stop dogs from digging holes and fill in holes if they have been dug
- Owners must remain inside the park with and in sight of their dog(s) at all times
- Anything out of the ordinary at the park should be reported to township staff by calling 610-865-3291
The park is normally open from dawn until dusk.
Parking is available in the adjacent lots at Polk Valley Park.
