A 46-year-old Lower Saucon Township woman has been charged with forgery (altering writing), identity theft, theft and records tampering after police say she allegedly opened a fraudulent credit card account in someone else’s name.
According to Hellertown police and court records, Michelle Lee DeHaven, 46, opened a Discover card account in early April “without authorization to do so.”
The credit card she was able to obtain she used to make retail and convenience store purchases and receive cash advances totaling $2,953.14 between April 4 and April 21, an affidavit of probable cause states.
The signed affidavit states that the investigating officer, Dominick Fragano, “obtained a full confession” from DeHaven during an interview at Hellertown police headquarters Aug. 19.
DeHaven is free on $10,000 unsecured bail, according to court records.
A preliminary hearing before District Judge Elizabeth Romig-Gainer is scheduled for Sept. 1 at 9 a.m.
