A Hellertown man is facing several charges after borough police say he was allegedly caught trespassing on the Saucon Rail Trail after dusk.

In a news release issued Monday, police said Keith Andrew Zerby, 60, of the 1100 block of Main Street, was walking on the trail between Thomas Avenue and Bachman Street shortly before 8 p.m. Sept. 27 when he was stopped.

Police said Zerby then fled and “left trash in the area he was stopped in.”

After Zerby was identified, police said he was charged with criminal trespassing, escape, disorderly conduct and scattering rubbish.

Like all borough parks, the trail is only open from dawn until dusk.

A sign posted along the Saucon Rail Trail in Water Street Park in Hellertown lists the rules for trail users in the borough.
