Panther junior Josh Jones won the 2018 PIAA Southeast Regional Tournament.

It was a great weekend for the Saucon Valley wrestlers who competed in the PIAA Southeast Regional wrestling tournament at Wilson West Lawn High School.  Six Panthers qualified for the regional tournament and, led by Josh Jones’ gold medal effort, all six will be moving on to States.  Panther seniors Jason Jones (138) and Angelo Mahaffey (152) will be joined by junior Josh Jones (126) along with sophomores Thomas Spirk (145), Dane Csencsits (195) and Nick Warnke (285).  With their strong performances, all six Panthers will now advance to the PIAA State Championships at the Giant Center in Hershey next week.

Of the fifty-one teams competing in the 2018 PIAA Southeast Regional tournament, the Saucon Valley Panthers finished second overall with 95 points.  Bishop McDevitt, out of District III, claimed first-place with 112 points.

195  Newport’s Brady Herr decision over Saucon’s Dane Csencsits, 7-5

285  Kennard-Dale’s Tanner Hawkins pinned Saucon’s Nick Warnke, (1:52)

Saucon sophomore Dane Csencsits heads to Hershey after his fourth place finish at the Southeast Regional Tournament.

PANTHERS IN THE CONSOLATION BRACKET

With his fourth place finish at the PIAA Southeast Regional tournament, Saucon Valley’s Angelo Mahaffey is Hershey bound.
