Hellertown Fire Hydrants Will Be Repainted This Summer

Est. Read Time: < 1 min

A fire hydrant on Cedar Road near Walnut Street in Hellertown has peeling paint on it.

Hellertown residents and business owners should be aware that the fire hydrant in front of their home or business may soon have a “wet paint” sign on it.

That’s because the Hellertown Borough Authority has hired someone to scrape and repaint their fire hydrants this summer.

“While many of our hydrants have been repainted by Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts as part of their advancement projects, many more of our hydrants are in dire need of repainting,” HBA administrator Glenn Higbie said Monday in an email.

“The individual will be putting ‘wet paint’ signs on the hydrants after he works on them to protect from accidents,” he added.

Repainting the fire hydrants will help improve their visibility in the event they are needed.
