Saucon Valley School District Assistant Superintendent Resigns

Est. Read Time: 2 mins

A top administrator in the Saucon Valley School District has submitted her resignation, which was unanimously accepted by the school board at their meeting Tuesday night.

Assistant superintendent Dr. Susan Mowrer-Benda was hired by the district in December 2014 to work under the administration of former superintendent Dr. Monica McHale-Small. Mowrer-Benda and McHale-Small had worked together in the Bensalem Township School District before being hired by Saucon Valley, with McHale-Small’s tenure beginning earlier in 2014.

“We appreciate everything that she’s done for Saucon Valley and we wish her the best of luck,” school board member Sandra Miller said Tuesday.

“I do want to thank Susan for her tireless work ethic and contributions to the school district,” superintendent Dr. Craig Butler–who succeeded McHale-Small about a year ago–said. “Susan, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with you and we certainly wish you the best.”

No specific reason for Mowrer-Benda’s resignation was publicly stated.

School board president Mike Karabin said her last day of work at the district will be Friday, Aug. 24, which is the Friday before the new school year begins.

A one percent raise for Mowrer-Benda for the 2018-2019 school year that was approved retroactive to July 1 at Tuesday’s meeting will be in effect until then.
