Andres, Laliwala Go for the Gold, Bring it Home to Saucon

Wednesday was a big day for Saucon Valley boys varsity tennis.

In the Colonial League championship, junior Michael Andres and senior Tej Laliwala both won gold medals for first and second tennis singles, each by defeating a Moravian Academy player.

The second doubles team of Garrett Van Helmondt and Ofori Ohene won silver in a very close match.

The last time Saucon Valley won two golds in the tournament was reportedly in the 1970s, a team parent said.

The tennis team is coached by head coach Joann Ochse and assistant coaches Michael Krentz, Roger Ochse and Dan Fowler.

“The Saucon boys tennis team is really looking forward to the upcoming District 11 tournaments starting this Monday at Lehigh University,” said Ochse.
