An 18-year-old Bethlehem man who participated in a robbery on the Saucon Rail Trail in Hellertown one night last fall was sentenced Friday to time served to 23 months in county prison plus three years of probation.

Lehigh Valley Live reported that Elijah Laws spent approximately two-and-a-half months in jail late last year after being arrested as one of four people who lured a local teen to the trail under the guise of purchasing marijuana from him.

Instead of making a sale the youth was punched by David Harris, 20, of Hellertown, and dropped a bag containing the marijuana as he fled, according to the published account.

As a condition of Laws’ sentence, he must remain drug-free or risk having his probation and parole provoked.
