Hellertown Police said Wednesday that a man who crashed a work pickup truck into a telephone pole on Main Street the night of Aug. 1 was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol at the time.
In a news release, police said Brian W. Gottschall, 49, of the 1100 block of Tollhouse Lane, Warminster, Bucks County, struck a telephone pole in front of 38 Main Street–which is the address for Neighbors Home & Garden Center–at approximately 9:25 p.m.
Police said Gottschall was unhurt in the accident, but was allegedly determined to be under the influence of alcohol and placed under arrest for DUI.
A blood test later determined that Gottschall’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was .19 percent, police said.
The maximum legal limit for BAC for all drivers in Pennsylvania is .08 percent.
Police said that in addition to DUI, Gottschall was also charged with DUI-High Rate of Alcohol and reckless driving.
