Several municipalities in the Saucon Valley area as well as the Saucon Valley School District will receive state funding for various projects, including school improvements and public safety initiatives, state Sen. Lisa Boscola (D-18) announced Wednesday.

More than a million dollars will be distributed locally through the new Public School Facilities Improvement Program and the Local Share Account-Statewide (LSA), according to Boscola’s office.

The Saucon Valley School District will receive $307,009 for high school health and safety upgrades. Other projects in the Saucon Valley area that will be funded are a Freemansburg community center ($485,000 for phase 2 construction) and Dewey Fire Company stormwater improvements in Hellertown ($86,444) and traffic signal video detection in Hellertown ($71,555).

Lower Saucon Township will receive $125,000 for a Saucon Rail Trail trailhead restroom.

Boscola said she will continue to advocate for state funding for priority projects identified by local government leaders in her district.
