A third man has declared his candidacy for the position of district judge for Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township.

David A. Repyneck

David A. Repyneck of Lower Saucon Township announced in a news release Monday that he will be seeking the Republican and Democratic nominations for Hellertown/Lower Saucon Township Magisterial District Judge in the May primary election.

Repyneck ran against incumbent David Tidd in 2015, and his announcement closely follows ones made by Hellertown attorney James Hill and Hellertown public safety professional Robert Mateff Sr. over the last several days.

Repyneck, a Lower Saucon native, is the son of Louis and Catherine Repyneck of Lower Saucon Township and a 1986 graduate of Saucon Valley High School, according to a news release from the Campaign to Elect David Repyneck for Magisterial District Judge. He received both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in criminal justice from DeSales University, it said.

Repyneck holds a Certificate in Human Resources Management from Cedar Crest College and completed the Magisterial District Judge Certification program in June 2015, receiving his certification to hold the office in September 2015. He completed recertification in June 2016 and his continuing education requirement in December 2016, and is certified until July 2018.

Repyneck, according to the news release, has over 30 years of combined professional criminal justice experience working in both the adult and juvenile justice systems.

He retired from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in 2015 after serving for more than 28 years, with his last 15 years of service on active duty in the PA Army National Guard.

He is currently employed as an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at Lehigh Carbon Community College.

“My knowledge, education, professional experience and certification have uniquely qualified me to serve as Magisterial District Judge,” Repyneck said. “As a Criminal Justice professional, I am eager to serve the residents of Hellertown and Lower Saucon, and intend to restore honor, integrity and respect back to the office of Magisterial District Judge.”

Repyneck resides in Lower Saucon Township with his wife, Leslie, and family.
