Snow Could Make for Messy Friday PM Commute, Forecasters Say

A period of light snow Friday afternoon could make for a messy evening rush hour in the Lehigh Valley, weather forecasters say.

The National Weather Service said in a special statement Friday morning that 1 to 2 inches of snow are generally expected, with snow beginning from southwest to northeast between 12 and 2 p.m.

“The timing of the snow coinciding with the afternoon rush hour could result in slippery travel and travel delays,” the NWS said.

Further south, in the Philadelphia area and southern New Jersey, winter weather advisories for 1 to 3 inches of snow are in effect from 1 to 9 p.m.

Friday’s light snowfall event will be the third to impact the area in less than a week.

The timing of the earlier storms–on Saturday and late Wednesday night–helped to lessen their impact on travel throughout the region, although Saucon Valley schools had a 2-hour delayed start on Thursday.
