In a Facebook post Wednesday, Dewey Fire Company in Hellertown warned local residents about unauthorized calls they say some residents have been receiving from individuals claiming to be seeking donations on their behalf.
“These calls are being made from Washington, D.C., and are of no affiliation with Dewey Fire Company, whatsoever,” the fire company said in a statement.
The fire company does send subscription letters and fundraising pamphlets seeking donations “via mail from time to time,” it said.
The phone calls, however, are considered fraudulent.
Anyone who receives one of the calls is advised to contact the Hellertown Borough Police Department immediately.
“Dewey Fire Company appreciates all of the support received by the residents, businesses and travelers visiting the borough, and will NEVER call your phone (cell or home) looking for support in any way,” the company stated.
