Lower Saucon Township Police are again urging township residents to lock their vehicles after a rash of thefts from unlocked vehicles occurred in the 2100 block of Saucon Avenue, Steel City, during the overnight hours of Aug. 3.
In a news release issued Friday morning, police said an unknown person or unknown persons “entered multiple unlocked vehicles and removed loose change, coins and a handgun.”
Police did not describe the gun in the news release.
“Please lock your vehicles,” police urged.
Other thefts from unlocked vehicles have occurred in both the township and the borough of Hellertown this summer, most recently in late July in the borough, when several vehicles were entered on New York Avenue and Spruce Street.
It is not known if any of the incidents are related.
Anyone with information about the thefts in Lower Saucon Township should call township police at 610-759-2200, as the cases remain under investigation.
Police posted about the thefts on their brand new Crimewatch website, where residents can submit tips to and subscribe to receive updates from the Lower Saucon Township Police Department.
