If you’re looking for a convenient, affordable, flexible fitness option in the Saucon Valley, Ironstone Barbell at 910A Main Street in Hellertown just might fit the bill.
An athletic performance center featuring state-of-the-art equipment, Ironstone Barbell opened in early August beneath Main Street Gym and offers members 24/7 access to the facility. Although the two businesses are in close proximity to and complement one another, they are separately owned and operated.
Ironstone co-owner Maggie Faulkner is a Southern Lehigh native and nationally-ranked bodybuilder who now calls Saucon Valley home.
She said that after working as a personal trainer at several large gyms in the Lehigh Valley area she wanted to be able to provide her clients with a more individualized, member-focused approach to fitness.
Faulkner brings seven years of fitness industry experience to her new business, along with extensive knowledge of what methods work and which are the most efficient for members who want to achieve specific goals.
Ironstone Barbell is co-owned with Faulkner by Samantha Simcox, who is a Hellertown resident, multi-sport Hall of Fame athlete in high school and college, and powerlifter and Saucon Valley teacher.
Both Simcox and Faulkner are International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) certified, and are working on becoming Westside Barbell certified personal trainers.
The space Ironstone Barbell occupies formerly housed a karate studio.
It has been fully renovated and is now filled with brand new, specialized equipment (see photos below) not found in most gyms.
Between Ironstone Barbell and Main Street Gym, Faulkner said just about every piece of equipment one could ever need is now conveniently under one roof.
All of the equipment at Ironstone Barbell was hand-selected and purchased from top fitness industry manufacturers, including Westside Barbell, Arsenal Strength and USA Strength and Performance. From a monolift to a vertical leg press, the gym promises to supply everything its members need to achieve the results they desire.
Weight loss is one proven result of working out at Ironstone Barbell, and Faulkner said training on her equipment in combination with targeted, limited cardio each week can make the pounds fall off faster. For example, she said a client recently lost 16 pounds in a month, while improving her overall strength. Cardio alone won’t produce those results, she said.
A 1-month, no-contract membership is $40; a 3-month, no-contract membership is $115; a 6-month, no-contract membership is $340; and a 1-year, no-contract membership is $650.
Personal training is available at prices that range from $40 for a single session to $500 for 15 sessions.
Custom training programs that are available for $75 per month include bodybuilding, powerlifting, fat loss and general fitness programs.
Lastly, members of Main Street gym can join Ironstone Barbell for just $20 per month, and without paying an initiation fee.
