Hellertown Lifts Snow Emergency

The snow emergency in the borough of Hellertown was lifted at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.

During Monday and Tuesday’s Snow Emergency in the Borough of Hellertown, the following lots will be open for public parking:

Residents are advised to park at their own risk. All vehicles must be removed by Thursday, Jan. 29 at 8 a.m. 

Residents are advised to stay tuned to wfmz.com for cancellation of garbage and recycling. 

Ahead of an approaching winter storm, Hellertown borough officials have declared a snow emergency that will take effect at 8 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26 and continue until further notice.

During a snow emergency, vehicles must be removed from the borough’s snow emergency routes.

The borough also reminded residents in an email blast about the snow emergency that they have 24 hours from the time snow, sleet or ice stops falling to clear their sidewalks.

“Please be a good neighbor by keeping sidewalks, driveway entrances and fire hydrants safe from snow and ice,” the email said. “You could also offer to help those in your neighborhood who may not be able to shovel their own sidewalks.”

A “Snow Emergency Route” sign indicates that you must remove your vehicle from the roadway by a certain time if a snow emergency is declared. In declaring a Snow Emergency a special “No Parking” ban goes into effect on those affected borough streets. This is simply the most effective way to keep cars off the street.
