The new age book and gift shop that opened in Hellertown less than a year ago is already expanding.
Kindred Spirits Sacred Space will open Oct. 1 in the Water Street Plaza shopping center in Hellertown.
Kindred Spirits Books & Gifts, 66 W. Water St., is opening Sacred Space, a services-only venue, in the Water Street Plaza shopping center directly across the street. Regular classes and workshops will be taught and meetings will be held in a storefront space located next door to Hair’s What’s Happening Salon.
“I’d like Town Center to be considered the Holistic Hub in Hellertown,” owner June Rose said during a recent interview at her shop, which sells an ever-expanding selection of spiritual supplies and metaphysical/new age products. “With the 412 construction nearly completed, it seems as though Hellertown’s energy is shifting,” she said.
Kindred Spirits Books and Gifts is located at 66 W. Water St., Hellertown, Pa.
Rose said she plans to host a Meet ‘n Greet Open House and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new space on Saturday, Oct. 1 beginning at 12 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and it is a free event.
Kindred Spirits Sacred Space is an outgrowth of Rose’s use of her shop as a place for small gatherings, including a weekly group meditation each Sunday morning, monthly wellness workshops, monthly book club meetings, readings with spiritual guide Amy Musser and tarot readings by Willow Rosewood.
New to the growing garden of spiritual offerings will be Ryoho Flow, healing reiki by Michele, Reiki Master/Teacher. Each woman at Sacred Space will have her own hours and help to ensure privacy for those seeking guidance and insight.

On a deeply personal note, Rose said her life has changed dramatically over the past two years, when she experienced a series of back-to-back personal losses including the loss of her family pet, an older sister, a friend, a cousin, a brother-in-law and her teaching job just three days before Christmas. Finally, there was the months-long hospice-care and death of her mother last August.
In the same week, Rose had also undergone two rounds of interviews for a new academic position, but was not the one selected. “I was exhausted from driving back and forth to Harrisburg to help care for my Mom, and I didn’t do great during parts of the all-day interview,” Rose admits.
But the final loss that propelled Rose to open Kindred Spirits last year came just a month-and-a-half after the loss of her mother, when she came home to find one of her family’s pets had been killed by a car right in front of her home. “I left the house for a walk and she was alive. When I came back an hour later, she was gone; that’s just how quickly it happens.” Rose keeps the glowing green-eyed cat candle lamp on her register lit at all times in memoriam of Anya’s bright spirit.
These life-changing experiences have reshaped her outlook on life and molded her ambition to reach more people with services and activities that are currently hard to find in the Hellertown area. Rose has other ideas currently in the works for Sacred Space, and is excited to share them with the community very soon. “More will be revealed,” she said.
