Saucon Valley Junior Girl Scout Troop #8429 was pleasantly surprised when a fire truck from the Southeastern Vol. Fire Co. in Lower Saucon Township showed up at their meeting in October. The girls were visited by Tyson Johnson, Wayne Miller, Nick Christine, Ranoy Miller and Lynsey Kincaid. They showed the girls different evacuation plans, how to prevent fires, and what the most common causes of fires are. They also let the girls check out a fire truck, and they even got a peek of the inside!
The girls were also visited by Police Officer Eric Medei, who taught them about bike safety. Ofc. Medei’s tips included the importance of wearing your helmet and riding your bike with traffic. The girls were surprised to find out that even though you are on a bike, you have to follow the same laws as a person driving a car! He gave the girls some bike lights, which they LOVE, along with some other goodies! A big thank you to all involved.
