Saucon vs. Beca: 5 Things to Know About Saturday’s Football Game
In case you havenāt heard, thereās a pretty big high school football game Saturday night and it involves Saucon Valley.
The Panthers Ā (10-1) will play the Bethlehem Catholic Golden HawksĀ (also 10-1) for the District 11 AAA championship at Bethlehem Area School District Stadium at 7:05 p.m.
Here are some other things to know before you go:
1. The Golden Hawks are the defending District 11 AAA champions. The last time the Panthers won the district title was as a 2A team in 2004 against Pine Grove, according to the Morning Call.
2. Saucon Valley is in the finals round of the playoffs because of last Saturdayās 20-17 victory over the Southern Lehigh Spartans.
3. Temperatures at the game will be cold. If the current forecast holds true, it will be just 33 degrees when the game starts, so be sure to dress appropriately.
4. Parking in the area of the BASD stadium can be in short supply when thereās a big game, so be prepared to walk a couple of blocks to get to the ticket booth.
5. Saucon head coach Matt Evancho told the Express-Times that heās OK with his team being underdogs heading into the matchup, as the Panthers have been underdogs all season longāincluding at last weekās game against Southern Lehigh.
