Teen Drove While High on Marijuana, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police say a 17-year-old boy has been charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance (marijuana), after his blood allegedly tested positive for the presence of THC, carboxy-delta 9 (a marijuana metabolite) in the amount of 8.5 nanograms per milliliter following a traffic stop.

In a news release issued Monday, police said the boy was arrested on suspicion of DUI following the stop early on the morning of Oct. 13 on Leithsville Road (Route 412).

Police said an officer first began to follow the teen after he passed him in the opposite lane of travel without dimming his high-beam headlights.

He was then “observed to cross the double yellow line on two occasions,” police said in the news release.

After he was pulled over, police said the boy showed “signs of impairment” and failed field sobriety tests.

It was also discovered that he was driving with a junior license and was out after curfew, authorities said.
