Two men were cited for alleged firearms violations Saturday after police say officers discovered them shooting semi-automatic, high-power rifles without proper safeguards in place at a property in the 2600 block of Easton Road in Lower Saucon Township.

In a news release issued Monday, township police said officers were dispatched to the area of Easton Road and Ridge Drive shortly before 11 a.m. for a report of “numerous gun shots.”

Upon arrival at the scene, officers heard “numerous rapid fire shots” coming from the property and discovered Peter Reider, 28, of the 600 block of Eighth Street, McChord Air Force Base, Wash., and Mikhail Bilous, 18, of the first block of Wagner Avenue, Hellertown, “in a tree shooting semi-automatic high power rifles,” according to the news release.

Police said one of the men was shooting “towards the mountain,” while “the other was shooting towards Easton Road with no target or backstop.”
