Men Went Door-to-Door ‘Polling for Gas Utilities,’ Police Say

Two men were arrested for peddling without a license in the borough of Hellertown, police said, after they allegedly went door-to-door in the area of Bachman and Ackerman streets on Wednesday afternoon.

In a news release issued Tuesday, police said the men “were requesting personal information from residents, stating they were polling information for gas utilities.”

Police identified the men as Louis Charles Roche, of the 600 block of Furnace Street, Emmaus, and Demario Eddie McKenzie, of the 15000 block of Westview Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio.

Anyone who is soliciting business door-to-door within borough limits is required to be licensed by the borough, and police advise residents who are pestered by unlicensed peddlers or solicitors to contact them by calling 610-838-7040.
