Messy Weather Forecast for Monday

Meteorologists are forecasting messy weather Monday, with a wintry mix expected to impact the morning commute.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Lehigh Valley for a mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and plain rain.

The advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.

According to the advisory, snow and sleet accumulations of up to an inch and ice accumulation of up to a tenth of an inch are possible.

“Untreated roads could be slippery, making the morning commute more difficult than usual,” the NWS warned.

Eastern PA Weather Authority is predicting a coating to an inch of snow followed by “a substantial period of ice” accumulating .15 to .30 inches before changing to plain rain in the afternoon.

Lehigh Valley Weather Authority predicted Saturday that the storm will be an “all-frozen event north of I-95.”

“This is a sleet and freezing rain storm, unfortunately,” the LVWA said in a post on Facebook.
