3 to 6 Inches of Snow Possible Saturday, NWS Says

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the Lehigh Valley due to the possibility of three to six inches of snow as well as freezing rain Friday night into Saturday.

The advisory will be in effect from 10 p.m. Friday until 1 p.m. Saturday.

According to the NWS, snow will develop across the area between 10 p.m. and midnight, before possibly changing to sleet or freezing rain around daybreak Saturday.

All of the wintry precipitation should come to an end by midday Saturday.

Lehigh Valley Weather Authority is also forecasting snow accumulations of three to six inches, with another “plowable snow” event possible Sunday night into Monday.

Although Friday is forecast to be sunny, a code orange air quality alert for ozone has been issued for Berks, Lehigh and Northampton counties.

The alert is issued when the air quality decreases to a level that may be unhealthy for sensitive groups, including children, asthma sufferers and the elderly.
