Walter J. Dolan, 83, of Milford Township, entered eternal rest on March 11, 2015 at Phoebe Richland Health Care, Richland Township. He was the husband of Jean Marie (McCarthy) Dolan. He was born in Allentown on June 27, 1931 to the late Raymond A. and Frances (Chaplin) Dolan. Walter served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Bethlehem Steel Corp. in 1984, where he worked in the Sheet Sales Department for 25 years. He also drove school bus for Palisades and Saucon Valley school districts for 18 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of Church of the Assumption of the BVM, Bethlehem, where he served as greeter and was active in the health and funeral ministries. He was a member of VFW Post #3405 and American Legion Post #242. He was an active fire and rescue responder and life member with Richland Township (Shelly) Fire Company, drove ambulance for Coopersburg, and volunteered for Bucks Co. Habitat for Humanity and Bethany Soup Kitchen. He played Santa Claus for 20 years at area nursing homes, St. Luke’s Pediatrics, Lehigh Valley Hospital Cancer Center, Habitat for Humanity, Richland Township Fire Co. and area businesses as a volunteer.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving wife of 44 years; sister: Jeanne Pavloty of Bethlehem; sister-in-law: Catherine Harick Dolan of West Palm Beach, Fla. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert J. Dolan.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 at Assumption of the BVM, 4101 Old Bethlehem Pike, Bethlehem. The calling hour will be followed by a mass at 10 a.m. and military honors. The interment will be held in Rhode Island. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
