Help Food Bank While Paying Off Library Fines

The Hellertown Area Library has announced that it will celebrate National Library Week (April 12-18) by collecting “Food for Fines” to benefit the food bank at New Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lower Saucon Township.

During National Library Week, HAL patrons will have $1 credited toward their account for each food item donated.

High-demand items at the food bank include cereal, canned vegetables, fruit juices, peanut butter, jelly, macaroni and cheese and canned chili.

The library is located at 409 Constitution Ave., Hellertown.

It is open Monday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (summer 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.).
